On Aug. 1, Goldschmidt Thermit Group acquired PortaCo Inc., a Minnesota-based producer of hydraulic power units and tools. The group operates as Orgo-Thermit Inc. in the U.S. market. The acquisition complements the company's product portfolio and "considerably" strengthens its activity in the manufacture of rail systems maintenance tools in the United States, said Hans-Jurgen Mundinger, the group's chairman. The group has been expanding its international market presence for several years, and plans to explore "the possibilities of further acquisitions and cooperation agreements to further expand our position worldwide," he said.Skanska Norway has obtained a contract from Hordaland fylkeskommune and Bybanen utvikling to develop and build two extensions of the tramway in Bergen, Norway.
