Marine drayage company IMC Cos. announced its West Coast-based brand, Pacific Drayage Services (PDS), will open a new location in Fontana, California, on May 1. In other developments, PDS announced it named Ken Uriu vice president of business development. Also, IMC and PDS have invested in an additional 100 long-term lease chassis that will arrive in May. Plus, PDS recently launched an expedited delivery service including a free active-trace tool that gives customers anytime access to their cargo’s whereabouts.

Thales has completed the commissioning of a new electronic signaling system, installed at the Beira Baixa Line, between the Covilha and Guarda stations in Portugal. For Thales, the project was an opportunity to implement a new generation of electronic interlocking with object controllers and the introduction of a new train detection technology, by the use of the company's track circuits.

Cummins Inc. named Jonathan Wood vice president of new power engineering to accelerate innovation and scale in its alternative power business segment, which houses its electrified power and hydrogen portfolio. Based in the United Kingdom, Wood has worked for Cummins for 27 years, most recently as vice president of components engineering.

Bluejay Capital Partners LLC announced Pierre-Luc Mathieu has joined the firm as managing partner. Previously, Mathieu was chief strategy officer at OmniTRAX Inc. He has significant investment, strategic and operational experience scaling transportation and logistics businesses over the past 18 years, according to a Bluejay Capital press release.

Hitachi Rail has joined the US High Speed Rail Association (USHSR) to support high-speed rail development in the United States. Hitachi Rail is a global manufacturer of high-speed trains; signaling systems and components; turnkey rail systems; and rail construction, operations and management services. Under the new rail-friendly Biden administration, the nation is set to expand high-speed rail as the president has promised to "spark the second great railroad revolution" in America, USHSR officials said in a press release.
