The Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis has adopted PS Technology's CrewPro Short Line™ software to manage the railroad's crew scheduling and hours-of-service requirements. The software will enable workers to check their own status at any time with a mobile device. The cloud-based system automates previously labor-intensive record-keeping and scheduling processes while helping to ensure regulatory compliance, according to a PS Technology press release.
ARVA Industries Inc. has been awarded a contract by MTA New York City Transit for the design, production and delivery of 12 hybrid rail crane cars by the end of 2023. Under contract terms, the design and production of the first crane is scheduled to begin immediately. The first delivery is expected in July 2022, after which one new crane car will be delivered per month. The cars were purchased to support all critical trackwork in support of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's capital program and maintenance throughout the New York City subway system, according to an ARVA press release.
ZTR and Imtram Pty. Ltd have arranged a pilot program for the Southern Shorthaul Railroad (SSR) in Australia to test ZTR's KickStart product, which is designed to extend the life of locomotive batteries. SSR is one of the first Australian railroads to test the product and is hoping to triple the battery life for its locomotive fleet, according to a ZTR press release. With annual service reviews revealing battery failures and facing ongoing starting issues, the railroad was a perfect candidate for the pilot. Since the pilot began, SSR has experienced zero starting problems, ZTR officials said.
CJ Logistics America has named Kevin Coleman chief executive officer, Canada, in addition to his current role as chief customer officer. As CEO, Coleman will lead the strategy for regional expansion. He joined the company in 2002. Formerly DSC Logistics, the company announced its rebranding as CJ Logistics last month.
