PTSI Transportation has completed and delivered its Route Learning System™ to Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. VTA will use this system in its new technical training center for the qualification of train operators of the light-rail service. The Route Learning System is an all-digital classroom or home study program using detailed track and physical characteristics maps that are synchronized with an annotated video of the route taken from the operator’s or locomotive engineer’s perspective.

STV Inc. is expanding in Tennessee with a new office in Chattanooga. STV also has an office in the Nashville area. The company is also expanding its tunneling and geotechnical engineering resources in the state with the relocation of Frank Pepe, senior vice president and national director of the firm’s tunneling and geotechnical engineering group.

Nippon Express Co. Ltd. has launched a new multimodal transport service linking up China and neighboring ASEAN countries via truck transport that utilizes an international railway connecting China and Laos. The express transport service reduces CO2 emissions by using rail transport and shortens lead time by 0.5 days compared to conventional transport by cross-border trucks only, according to a Nippon Express press release.
