RailWorks Transit LLC, in a joint venture with Halmar International, has been awarded the Penn Station Access project, which will expand MTA Metro-North Railroad service to Penn Station on Manhattan’s west side. Working in a design-build partnership with Halmar, RailWorks Transit will construct new track and systems to connect Penn Station to Metro-North’s New Haven rail line via the existing Amtrak Hell Gate Line. The project scope includes designing and constructing additional passenger tracks; traction power substations; overhead contact systems; new interlockings; updated communication systems; and new signal systems within Amtrak’s right of way. Also included is the construction of four new ADA-accessible stations in the East Bronx. RailWorks Transit is the transit division of RailWorks Corp.

Mullen Group Ltd. subsidiaries APPS Cartage Inc. and APPS Cargo Terminals Inc. have entered into a multiyear agreement with CN to continue providing intermodal services to APPS Transport, whose network of intermodal capabilities and service centers spans all of Canada. "APPS Transport and the Mullen Group have been longstanding partners with CN, collaboratively providing sustainable solutions for our shared customers for many industries in Canada," said Dan Bresolin, CN's vice president of intermodal, in a press release.

Alstom has received an order worth 100 million euros to deliver 40 new trams to Vasttrafik for use in Gothenburg, Sweden. The new Flexity, locally known as the M34, is an extended version of the M33 tram that Alstom is currently delivering to Gothenburg. The 40 units are an option from the initial 2016 contract enabling Vasttrafik to order additional trams. The first M34 tram is expected to be in service in Gothenburg by the end of 2023 and the last tram will be delivered in 2026.
