Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight
Rail supplier news from Railhead and Millstone Weber (Sept. 26)
Railhead Corp. recently completed installations of the Railhead LDVR4K-12 DVR and cameras on several Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) locomotives. ARRC has equipped initial locomotives with Railhead’s 12-channel LDVR4K DVR along with the forward-facing twin-view camera that provides long and wide views of the track in front of the locomotive. An interior 360-degree camera in the cab provides additional evidence of the appropriate actions taken by the crew that can minimize liability for the railroad. Also, Railhead is providing the railroad with the Fleetwide Tracking device that will grab select data from other onboard systems and provide railroad management remote access to that data. This will enable ARRC to analyze operational data to improve efficiencies.
Millstone Weber LLC has been awarded the contract for the first construction package in Metro Transit-St. Louis' $52 million project to install security gates and fencing at MetroLink platforms on the 46-mile light-rail system. The $6.4 million contract with Millstone Weber focuses on four MetroLink stations in St. Clair County: Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center Station, College Station, Emerson Park Station and Washington Park Station. The work at all four MetroLink stations is expected to be completed next spring. The project is the first of several construction packages tied to Metro Transit’s Secure Platform Plan that will be put out for bid.
