CSX has selected STV Inc. to provide program management and construction management services for the Class I's $466 million Howard Street Tunnel clearance program. STV will provide pre-construction services in the form of design reviews and coordination for eight design-bid-build packages, as well as assist in the procurement and management of design-build teams for both the Howard Street Tunnel and North Avenue Bridge projects in Baltimore. STV will also manage the construction of all 10 packages within the clearance program over the next four years.

Alstom has signed a contract with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to provide operations and maintenance services for the automated people mover (APM) system for the next 10 years. The contract is valued at $216 million. Alstom’s scope of work includes preventive and corrective maintenance of the system’s 64 Innovia APM 200 vehicles, subsystems and related components. Alstom will also maintain the 5-mile elevated dual-lane guideway, which includes the running surface, guide beam, third rail power and related switches, power distribution, guideway heating systems and automatic train control equipment.

American Track has acquired The Railroad Associates Corp. in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania. "TRAC has been a strong force in the railroad services industry. ... With the addition of the TRAC team, American Track greatly enhances our service delivery capabilities, customer base and national reach," said Thomas Lucario, American Track’s CEO, in a press release. In 2021, DFW Capital Partners acquired American Track and has assisted with an aggressive strategy to grow the organization organically and through acquisition.

The Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association is accepting applications through July 15 for its 2022 Undergraduate Scholarship Program. This year, REMSA will award a $6,000 President’s Scholarship and a $4,000 Runner-Up Scholarship. To be eligible, an applicant must be a full- or part-time employee of a REMSA member company; or the spouse, son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a current full-time employee of a REMSA member company. In addition, the applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited two-year college offering an associate’s degree or an accredited college or university offering a bachelor’s degree; or enrolled for the upcoming semester as an incoming freshman.
