STV Inc. has been selected by Chicago commuter railroad Metra to provide procurement support for one of the nation’s first all-electric, battery-powered trainsets. STV will provide quality assurance, engineering and administrative services for Metra’s $154 million base order for eight battery-powered trainsets, STV officials said in a press release. The trainsets will feature low-level boarding and be equipped with lifts to make them ADA-compliant. Each two-car set will seat 112 people with trailer cars that can provide seating for 46 people. Additionally, amenities such as information signs, bike racks, luggage racks and USB outlets will be included.

Fluor Corp. announced Chief Operating Officer Jim Breuer will become CEO on May 1. David Constable, Fluor’s current chairman and CEO, will transition into the role of executive chairman on the same date to ensure the company's continuity of leadership and strategic direction. Breuer, who has worked for Fluor for 31 years, has been COO since 2024. Prior to his COO role, he held several executive leadership positions including group president of energy solutions. He has spent half of his career on assignments outside of the United States, according to a Fluor press release.
