ShipXpress Inc. has acquired the Rail Fleet Management Software Services business of FreightCar America Inc. ShipXpress plans to integrate the acquired software platform into its existing suite of rail fleet management and maintenance solutions, according to a press release. ShipXpress appointed former FreightCar America executives to the following posts: Seth Crespin, to vice president of business, strategic development and technology services; Carol Scarborough, to director of RailSync Shop and ShipX Repairs; and Elizabeth Kovach, to account manager.
A Thales-led consortium has obtained a $139 million contract from PKP Polish Lines S.A. for the implementation of an ERTMS solution, including an ETCS Level 2 signaling system and a GSM-R communications system, on two sections of a line on the Polish railway network. The contract also includes the design and operation of a local control center in Skierniewice, Poland.
Hub Group Inc. is renaming its drayage subsidiary from Comtrak Logistics to Hub Group Trucking. The change formally recognizes the growing importance of efficient trucking operations as an integral part of Hub Group's expanding portfolio of transportation service offerings, according to a company press release.
Scott Rotman has joined Hatch Mott MacDonald as its senior specialist for environmental permitting. A former courtroom attorney, Rotman has worked for such clients as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bonneville Power Administration, the U.S. Department of Defense and the California Department of Transportation. Hatch Mott MacDonald also named Craig Benson senior project engineer for water and wastewater. Benson has 18 years of experience as a professional engineer, and more than 25 years of experience in the water, wastewater and construction industries.
