Rail supplier news from Siemens, AECOM and STV (March 4)

Siemens Mobility announced the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) has exercised an option to order an additional 18 S200 light-rail vehicles (LRVs) to replace the agency's current fleet operating on the Red, Blue and Green lines. Building on GCRTA’s initial purchase in 2023 for 24 S200 LRVs and its exercise of the first option for an additional six cars in 2024, the new order of 18 vehicles increases GCRTA’s total number of Siemens Mobility LRVs in Cleveland to 48, according to a Siemens Mobility press release. Vehicles from the initial order are in production at Siemens Mobility’s rail manufacturing facility in Sacramento, Calif.
AECOM has been selected as the lead designer under the San Fernando Transit Constructors joint venture team to advance the Phase 2 of the final design for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (L.A. Metro) East San Fernando Valley light-rail transit project. The project will feature at-grade light-rail tracks and 11 stations, spanning 6.7 miles, to serve the San Fernando Valley area. L.A. Metro’s $3.57 billion project is designed to create connections with new and existing local and regional transit services, including Metrolink, Amtrak, L.A. Metro G Line, L.A. Metro B Line, and other planned L.A. Metro projects in the works, according to an AECOM press release.
STV Inc. has hired Allison Dane Camden to serve as vice president and Pacific Northwest area manager in STV's Transportation West group. Dane Camden will lead transportation operations across the region and manage local teams, overseeing project delivery and client relationships. Before joining STV, Allison served as principal deputy assistant secretary for multimodal freight infrastructure and policy at the US Department of Transportation, according to an STV press release. Meanwhile, STV also announced it joined New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority in marking the completion of the new passenger tunnel connecting Grand Central Terminal to the No. 7 subway line’s Grand Central-42nd Street station. Serving as the designer and engineer of record, STV was part of the design-build team led by Skanska.
