Siemens Mobility will implement its Xcelerator technology across Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s rail network. The integrated data and communication system will be integrated into all five of L.A. Metro’s rolling stock fleets, including one from Siemens. The Xcelerator solution, which is powered by Siemens’ Railigent X and Wi-Tronix’s Violet Edge, is designed to provide real-time train information and enhanced arrival predictions, safety and security measures, location tracking capabilities in tunnels and train-health diagnostics.
The Chicago Transit Authority has awarded a contract to Railhead Corp. to design and furnish a video recording system for the agency’s 5000 series and 3200 series rail cars. The solution will include Railhead’s 4K video system that will record video data from nine cameras in the 5000 series cars and six cameras in the 3200 series cars. The video recording devices are supported by Railhead’s license-free software tool that manages video and data playback and system configuration to meet CTA’s requirements, according to a Railhead press release.
Duos Technologies Inc. has entered into a three-year agreement with Canadian Pacific Kansas City that allows CPKC to use Duos-developed artificial intelligence solutions for mechanical inspections and cross-border velocity and efficiency. The agreement includes three years of maintenance and repair service.
Thales has completed installation of a new signaling system on the Kouvola-Kotka/Hamina train line in Finland for the purpose of testing ETCS L2 technology, which is designed to improve railway safety and efficiency. The technical solution involves deployment of trackside and onboard equipment, including radio communication according to Future Railway Mobile Communications System specifications, according to a Thales press release.
Lochner, a provider of infrastructure-planning and engineering services, has partnered with Praedico, a global technology company, to provide digital twin and asset management solutions for North American passenger- and freight-rail clients. For rail asset and maintenance managers, having a digital twin of the entire network provides visibility into the performance of infrastructure assets with the ability to monitor and compare the performance of tracks, stations and rolling stock, according to a Lochner press release.
