Skanska has signed a contract with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments to serve as the contractor for the Fullerton Road grade separation in Industry, California. The contract is worth $96 million. The project calls for lowering Fullerton Road under existing Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Industry between Rowland Street and State Route 60. Additionally, a six-lane roadway underpass, four-track railroad bridge and a bridge for Railroad Street spanning Fullerton Road will be constructed. Construction is set to begin in third-quarter 2021 with completion expected in fourth-quarter 2024.
Advanced Rail Management Corp. (ARM) obtained a multiyear contract from the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority to provide rail grinding project management designed to improve wheel/rail interaction on 38 track miles on the Red Line and 10 track miles on the agency's light-rail lines. ARM will provide project management and will be responsible for the quality, technical accuracy and the coordination of all required services through 2023, according to an ARM press release.
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has selected Arup/WSP Joint Venture (JV) to provide planning and engineering services for the Link21 program. A multi-project initiative led by BART and the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority, Link21 aims to transform the passenger-rail network in Northern California’s 21-county region into a faster and more-integrated system. As part of the program, Arup/WSP JV will perform planning and engineering services for Link21’s New Transbay Rail Crossing, which will connect Oakland and San Francisco through a new rail service across the San Francisco Bay.
ETA Transit announced that Altamont Corridor Express (ACE Rail) has renewed its intelligent-vehicle tracking service contracts. The new term of the agreement extends the relationship between both organizations beyond the 20-year mark. The contracts include ETA Transit’s SPOT™ intelligent transit system, which provides ACE Rail with a suite of management tools, including a reporting solution that provides real-time and historical information, according to an ETA Transit press release.
Alstom will supply SYTRAL, the public transport authority in Lyon, France, with 35 additional Citadis rail vehicles as part of the Destinations 2026 plan, which includes the introduction and extension of new tram lines. Worth 115 million euros, the order constitutes an option exercise under the framework agreement signed in 2018, Alstom officials said in a press release.
Navis, a provider of operational technologies and services across the global cargo supply chain, has postponed its Navis World event, originally scheduled for Nov. 1-4, 2021. Due to the delta variant of COVID-19 and the restriction on international travel to the United States, the event has been rescheduled for Oct. 24-27, 2022, at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. In lieu of the in-person conference, the company will host a virtual event Nov. 9-11, 2021.
