Stadler will supply 14 three-car metro trains, while Siemens Mobility will install its communications-based train control (CBTC) system Trainguard MT on the Blue, Yellow and Green lines, and upgrade existing equipment on the Lisbon Metro in Portugal. The contract includes installing Thales’ onboard CBTC technology across 70 trains of the existing fleet, as well as on the 14 new Stadler trains. The contract is valued at 114.5 million euros.

Alstom has been selected by French public transport operator Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) to provide its automatic train operation system I-CBTC to lines 10, 7bis, 3bis and 3 of the Paris metro. As many as 91 carriages of the new MF19 trains, designed and manufactured by Alstom at its Valenciennes and Crespin sites, will be equipped with Alstom’s interchangeable CBTC (I-CBTC) solution, developed for RATP.

Thales has begun rolling out a new digital signaling system in Denmark. The successful commissioning of the line between Langa, Struer and Holsterbro marks the third rail line to be opened in commercial service in western part of Denmark, equipped with the new Thales European Rail Traffic Management System signaling system. This new IT-based signaling system is designed to help reduce the amount of signal errors, deliver a more stable train operation, secure more on-time trains and improve the overall carbon footprint.

HDR has added Steve Salin as a senior transit consultant. Based in Dallas, Salin will work on some of the firm’s largest transit projects in the region, including the Project Connect transit program in Austin. He will provide insight into the Federal Transit Administration’s grant programs and assist in the delivery of complex large capital programs. In addition, he will assist clients with expertise in emerging areas of emphasis for transit, including new mobility, mobility as a service and electrified mobility.
