Stadler and Caltrain, the commuter railroad serving the San Francisco Peninsula area, have signed a technical support and spare supply agreement designed to ensure material availability for Caltrain's fleet of electric multiple units (EMUs). Stadler will provide on-site technical support, maintenance management software and material management to Caltrain, Stadler officials said in a press release. Caltrain has contracted with Stadler since 2017, when the transit agency first ordered its KISS electric trainsets from Stadler. A contract value was not disclosed in the press release.

Stadler signed a contract with LTG Cargo to build 17 Co’Co’ electric trains for the Lithuanian-based freight transport railway operator. The agreement includes an option for 17 additional units, spare parts and a three-year maintenance period. The Co’Co’ trains will be based on Stadler’s Eurodual six-axle platform and are designed to withstand temperatures as low as –40 degrees Fahrenheit. The press release did not disclose a contract value.

Alstom has signed two contracts with OnTrain, a Poland-based stockholder railroad operator, to build Traxx Universal multisystem electric trains, which will be built at the Alstom plant in Wroclaw, Poland. Under the first contract, signed Nov. 29, Alstom will supply 35 third-generation trains, with an option for OnTrain to purchase 20 more. The vehicles will be authorized for use in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Signed Dec. 12, the second contract calls for Alstom to supply an additional five Traxx Universal trains authorized for operation in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
