Stantec has renewed its contract with Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation to continue construction engineering and inspection services through 2026. The $119 million contract includes a five-year extension option. Stantec will help the authority deliver complex construction projects, including HART's light-rail guideway, rail station builds and utility relocations. The engineering firm has grown from a single employee in Hawaii in 2015 to 40 full-time employees on the islands.

Thales this week began drafting a project to install signaling on the Valladolid East Bypass in Spain. The company will make the installations on nearly 11 miles of track that include a viaduct and tunnel. The European Union’s Next Generation Funds program is financing the project for 17.8 million euros. Meanwhile, the Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels awarded a contract to Thales to design and build the Cairo Metro Line 4 Phase 1. The company, in partnership with Orascom Construction and Colas Rail, will construct the telecommunications, centralized control and ticketing systems. The new 26-mile line will include 35 stations. Phase 1 is expected to last six years.

STV Inc. has signed the Equity in Infrastructure Project Pledge, becoming one of the first firms of its kind to commit to advancing equity in infrastructure. The company aims to increase the number, size and percentage of historically underutilized businesses growing to prime contractors, participating in joint ventures or becoming equity participants. STV's action plan includes goals for growth, efficiency, support and awareness.
