Thales Group and Harsco Rail are jointly equipping four multipurpose stoneblower vehicles with Level 2 ETCS on-board units for an operation in the United Kingdom. Developed and provided by Thales, the units are enabling a transition to the British national train control system TPWS/AWS, according to a Thales press release.

Tutor Perini Corp. announced it has been identified by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority as the low bidder for the LAX Airport Metro Connector project. The anticipated contract value is $478 million. The project scope includes construction of a new major transit station hub connecting the Metro Crenshaw/LAX and Green rail lines and a number of bus routes with the LAX Automated People Mover. Work is anticipated to begin in third-quarter 2021 with substantial completion expected in first-quarter 2025.

IMC Cos. last week acquired Empire Truck Lines. Empire has operations in Memphis, Tennessee; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Laredo and El Paso, Texas; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The acquisition significantly increases IMC's track capacity. Additionally, the transaction allows Gulf Intermodal Services and IMC to offer its customers a full-service depot in the Houston market including container lifts and storage, according to an IMC press release. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Kaleris announced the merger and combined brand for its recent supply-chain management software acquisitions. Within Kaleris, the PINC, ShipXpress and RailcarRx businesses align industry solutions and innovation to a cloud-based Supply Chain Execution platform focused on mission-critical workflow to control and optimize the movement of goods through the supply chain, according to a company press release. Kaleris is backed by Accel-KKR, a technology-focused private equity firm.
