Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight
Rail supplier news from Thales and STV (Jan. 2)

Thales will digitalize the signaling equipment for Land Transport Authority in Singapore for two depots on the North-South and East-West Lines. The lines extend more than 62 miles, with 62 stations and 1.4 million daily passengers, according to a news release. The work needs to be carried out without impacting daily operations in the depots where train movements occur 24/7. In 2012, Thales began a re-signaling project on the lines to convert the legacy fixed-block technology to a moving block communications-based train control system.
STV Inc. announced that Lynda Tran has joined its board. Most recently serving as director of public engagement and senior adviser to U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Tran helped activate stakeholders to secure passage of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. She played a role in shaping the policies and programs that determine how the law's historic resources are allocated in communities nationwide, STV officials said in a press release.
