Vertical Cold Storage yesterday finalized its purchase of MWCold, which operates two temperature-controlled warehouse facilities in central Indiana. Financial terms were not disclosed. MWCold’s Indianapolis warehouse is 390,000 square feet and is served by CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway. The company’s 159,000-square-foot Pendleton warehouse handles ice cream and other frozen products.

Rail Vision Ltd. closed a $3 million private placement with Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems, a subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse AG and Rail Vision’s largest shareholder. The company issued Knorr-Bremse an aggregate of 3,947,368 ordinary shares and the same amount of five-year warrants exercisable at 84 cents per share. Aegis Capital Corp. acted as the exclusive placement agent.

Stantec hired Paula Gartner to lead the firm's U.S. Gulf Coast transportation business. With more than 30 years of engineering consulting experience, Gartner will be responsible for managing and growing the company’s transportation business in Texas and Florida. She has led transportation, energy, water, planning, buildings, survey, utility coordination and site civil teams in small and global firms.

STV has named Terry Snow vice president and business unit leader for South Carolina. Snow will focus on enhancing client relationships and leading the firm’s transportation expansion, including client services, financial performance and project oversight. He has more than 35 years of experience developing business strategy at the national, regional and local levels. Most recently, he was senior VP for a major global engineering firm.

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association added ISB Global Services to the association's member discount program. ISB will offer association members employment background screening products, including verification of employment history and professional credentials; searches of motor vehicle records and domestic terrorism watchlists; and mobile identity verification for secure building access and cargo loss and supply-chain security tools.

Carlisle Support Services and transportation software provider ITAL have partnered to reduce the amount of uncollected passenger-rail ticket revenue and improve railway staff flexibility. ITAL’s Kinetic software platform provides multiskilled staff with real-time information and equipment needed to undertake revenue protection and customer service duties on board trains and at stations. Carlisle’s more than 2,300 employees provide 15 train operators with customer service, retail, revenue protection, cleaning and safety services.
