VisioStack, a drone imagery data management company, has been awarded a 2019 Small Business Innovation Research project from the U.S. Department of Transportation to research and develop its aerial crossing inspection system (AXIS). AXIS is a highway-rail grade crossing inspection system that uses unmanned aerial vehicles and machine learning to flag and report high-risk profiles for repair, VisioStack officials said in a press release.

Systra has hired Norine Walker as vice president in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Before joining Systra, Walker was project manager for design and construction projects at Virginia Railway Express and served as VP of URS Corp., now AECOM, Systra officials said in a press release.

Savage has been selected by ExxonMobil and SABIC to design, build and operate a rail facility that will serve their joint venture Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV). The rail facility will be located adjacent to the GCGV facility in San Patricio County, Texas, and will handle rail cars transporting polyethylene by 2022, Savage officials said in a press release. Savage will provide multiple services at the site including rail switching and indexing, rail car washing and loading, rail car repairs and facility maintenance. 

Road & Rail Service Inc. was honored with the Automotive Quality Excellence Award from the Association of American Railroads for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes the company’s San Antonio, Texas location for receiving a 99.75 percent quality review score for its origin facility.

The Sener engineering and technology group has hired Luis Garcia Jimenez as corporate development director. Jimenez will analyze, organize and coordinate mergers, acquisitions and investments. He also will help define and implement strategy, according to a company press release. 

Hanson Professional Services Inc. has hired Jordan Stapleton as a technician and construction observer to monitor and document progress of the Ash Street underpass construction in Springfield, Illinois.
