Vossloh AG's supervisory board has appointed Andreas Busemann chief executive officer, effective April 2017. He will succeed Hans Schabert. Busemann has been a member of the executive board for sales and marketing at DB Cargo since January 2016. Before that, he served as a member of the executive board for production of DB Fernverkehr AG and as Chief Technical Officer of DB Netz AG. Busemann started his career at Siemens, where he held several positions, including CEO of the company's rail automation division.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Expo Line Phase 2 Extension has received Envision™ Platinum certification from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. The extension is the first transit project in the United States to receive the honor, which is the highest certification for green infrastructure. A joint venture comprising Skanska and Steve P. Rados Construction Inc. completed the project last spring. The extension runs from Culver City to Santa Monica, Calif. The project also marks Skanska's first Envision-certified project, company officials said in a press release.

Brazilian freight-rail operator Rumo ALL selected ENSCO Rail Inc. to supply an autonomous track geometric measurement system and rail profile measurement system. The systems will be installed in early 2017 on an existing freight car dedicated to track condition evaluation. The onboard technology is designed to continuously monitor track geometry and rail wear conditions. The information is then offloaded for processing using cellular or other means to the ENSCO Track/7® web platform and the GeoEDIT 8 desktop software platform. This will be the second track measurement vehicle equipped by ENSCO systems in the Brazilian market.

Industry-Railway Suppliers (IRS) and Panduit Corp. have entered a partnership to distribute new products in the signal and communications sector. The partnership is focused on developing and providing electrical and network infrastructure solutions to several segments in the rail industry. Panduit sales representatives and technical specialists will offer guidance to help IRS launch the new product line, IRS officials said in a press release.

Alliance Shippers Inc. has hired Jorge Pimentel as assistant vice president of sales. He has more than 30 years of transportation experience with various rail, highway and third-party organizations, company officials said in a press release. His responsibilities include overseeing all sales activities in Mexico. Most recently, he managed and developed domestic and international sales teams for FEMSA Logistica, which is the largest public bottler of Coca-Cola products in the world. Before that, he handled sales to industrial markets in northeast Mexico for Union Pacific Railroad.
