Rail News: Railroading Supplier Spotlight

Rail supplier news from Vossloh, Wabtec, Michael Baker International, Advanced Polymer Coatings and moovel North America (April 6)

Vossloh announced a series of leadership changes in its North American region, effective April 1:
• Peter Urquhart was appointed regional president of Vossloh North America and chief executive officer of Vossloh Fastening Systems America Inc., and has assumed the role of chairman of Rocla Concrete Tie Inc.;
• Eliseo Bandala was appointed CEO of Cleveland Track Material Inc. and Vossloh Track Material Inc., and will serve as executive vice president of sales for Vossloh North America;
• Tilo Brandis was named president and CEO of Rocla Concrete Tie;
• Brett Urquhart was appointed vice president of Class I Sales, and retains his title
of vice president of sales and marketing with Rocla Concrete Tie;
• Christian Renners was named chairman of Vossloh Fastening Systems America; and
• Laurent Savornin was named vice president of sales and internationalization for Vossloh AG.

Wabtec Corp. has acquired Thermal Transfer Corp., a supplier of industrial heat exchangers with annual sales of about $25 million. Thermal Transfer manufactures heat exchangers and related components for a variety of industrial markets; most of its sales are in the United States and in the aftermarket, according to a Wabtec press release. “Thermal Transfer will be an excellent strategic fit with our existing heat exchanger products for rail and industrial markets," Wabtec President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond Betler said. "The company offers a broad portfolio of heat transfer solutions for niche applications, which will enable Wabtec to diversify its product and market applications further.  In addition, Thermal Transfer’s extensive design and engineering expertise will complement our existing capabilities.”

Michael Baker International named Ted Coffey vice president and deputy national market lead in its railroad and transit practice. Based in Chicago, he'll oversee the company’s East Coast railroad and transit operations, leading business and strategic development. Coffey has more than 31 years of transportation planning, design and construction experience related to freight and transit rail, and goods movement.

Advanced Polymer Coatings Inc. named James DeChant the global rail and transport sales manager for ChemLine® Coatings. He'll be responsible for ChemLine coating sales and business development activities serving the transportation industries, which encompasses specialty linings for different types of transportation equipment, including tank and hopper cars, over-the-road truck tankers, barge tankers and intermodal product tanks.

moovel North America LLC appointed Henry Harbury chief technology officer (CTO). He'll drive strategic, cross-company technology initiatives designed to advance the company’s mobility-as-a-service solutions for the transportation market. Harbury most recently served as CTO at Act-On Software, a software-as-a-service marketing automation provider.
