The Toronto Transit Commission named WSP Canada Inc. the prime consultant for the agency’s CA$30 million project to enhance capacity of the Line 1 subway in Toronto over 11 years. The consulting work also will support capacity enhancements on Line 2, including condition assessment, design, studies, analysis, engineering and program consultant services.
Digital freight broker company Loadsmart Inc. expanded its multimodal services to include rail and less than truckload. Loadsmart now enables customers to book shipments in North America across all major transportation modes, company officials said in a press release.
Siemens Mobility hired Teri Hamlin as the head of mass transit for the rail infrastructure business. The division provides rail automation, communications and signaling products for Siemens Mobility’s freight- and passenger-rail customers. Previously, Hamlin served as senior vice president of growth and strategy at Siemens Government Technologies.
New Jersey Transit deployed Extreme Networks Inc.’s networking solutions to extend network connectivity, simplify network management and enhance passenger security across the agency's service area. The network is capable of maintaining full operational uptime and providing the security measures needed to help keep passengers safe, Extreme Networks officials said in a press release.
Urban Engineers added Deborah Boe to its project management oversight team. Boe has more than 40 years of experience in large, complex engineering and construction projects, with the last 30 years in project management. Previously, she worked with the Federal Transit Administration.
Employment research company Vault Inc. ranked Hanson Professional Services Inc.’s internship program as the third best engineering internship in the United States. Hanson also ranked within the top 50 of Vault’s list of 100 best internships for a second year, and placed on lists for best internship compensation and benefits, quality of assignments and real-life experience. Hanson’s rankings were based on responses from participants in the company’s summer internships this year. There were 42 college students working for the firm’s U.S. offices. Vault surveyed more than 100 programs and thousands of interns.
