Wabtec Corp. has obtained a contract from the Central Organization For Modernization Of Workshops (COFMOW) at the Indian Railways for its online monitoring of rolling stock (OMRS) project. The new automated OMRS system is part of Indian Railways’ SMART Yard initiative, which aims to improve the availability of the fleet of cars and locomotives by detecting and addressing defects and preventing in-service failures. The OMRS system enables operators to plan the inspection and removal of defective bearings and wheels based on condition instead of fixed time-based inspection schedules, Wabtec officials said in a press release.
Navis announced that ITS ConGlobal (ITSC) has selected Octopi by Navis’ cloud-based terminal operating system (TOS) for its greenfield intermodal facility, the Mid-Willamette Valley Intermodal Center in Millersburg, Oregon. In addition to the core planning and execution capabilities — such as EDI exchange, gate processing, yard management, rail processing and critical reporting and invoicing functions — ITSC will benefit from Octopi’s ability to integrate with ITSC’s transportation management system and the Sight.IO AGS solution, according to a Navis press release.
HDR Inc. employees Raven Gambrell, Michael Book and Rob Berman have received top awards from their local WTS chapters for their support of women in the transportation industry. A founding member of WTS South Carolina, Columbia office principal and Senior Project Manager Gambrell was named the chapter’s Member of the Year. Receiving Honorable Ray LaHood Awards from their local chapters were Book, senior strategic communications specialist in the Phoenix area, and Berman, operations manager in Puget Sound, Washington.
