Wabtec Corp. today announced a strategic investment in its transit business with the acquisitions of Fanox and Kompozitbm. “These acquisitions align with our strategy by bringing in technologies that are complementary to our product portfolio, positioning the business for accelerated, profitable revenue growth," said Pascal Schweitzer, president of Wabtec Transit, in a press release. Fanox will strengthen Wabtec’s capabilities in the production of specialized relays for on-board train operations. Kompozitum will enable Wabtec to improve its pantograph portfolio, while opening new markets for carbon and graphite solutions. Wabtec is acquiring the two companies for a combined $110 million cash transaction, financed through cash on hand and a revolving credit facility.

PS Logistics' subsidiary Blair Logistics has acquired Fluker Transportation, a trucking company that specializes in flatbed and heavy-haul shipping. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Headquartered in Hammond, Louisiana, Fluker primarily hauls steel, construction equipment and military defense related freight across the southeastern United States. Fluker will now operate under Blair Logistics’ name.

This is the seventh consecutive year Savage has been recognized as a Military Friendly® Employer for its commitment to recruiting, retaining and advancing veterans. "We’re proud that almost ten percent of Savage team members are military veterans, National Guard members or military spouses," said Savage CEO Kirk Aubry in a press release.

Alstom announced the delivery of the first fully automated, four-car Metropolis train to the Department of Rapid Transit Systems, Taipei City Government in Taiwan, for the Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line. The 14-mile line will enable seamless connections between Taipei and New Taipei City. Passengers will benefit from more convenient travel between districts in New Taipei City, including Zhonghe, Shulin, Tucheng, and Xinzhuang, according to an Alstom press release.

STV Inc. opened its new 18,000-square-foot office at The Line in Charlotte, North Carolina.
