Logistics solution company VLI has signed a $38 million contract with Wabtec Corp. for nine Evolution Series locomotives. The new units will join VLI's cargo transportation fleet on the Ferrovia Centro-Atlantica in Brazil. The first of the locomotives are scheduled for delivery in about 18 months. The locomotives will help meet increased demand for cargo transportation in the company's Central-East corridor, through which it moves steel, agribusiness, coal, fertiziler, fuel and cellulose products to the Port of Espirito Santo.
STV Inc. announced a new three-year strategic plan and unveiled new branding. The plan outlines three key priorities: growing the business to diversify market share, reimagining day-to-day operations to enhance efficiency, and improving the employee experience to better attract and retain talent. Elements of the rebranding include a new purpose statement, new logo and updated company values. STV also plans to relocate its flagship office in New York City to the Empire State Building in 2024.
MAC-IMPulse LLC, an affiliate of MAC Products Inc., has acquired the rail-transit business assets of AFL Telecommunications. The new company will continue to operate at a facility in Mt. Olive, North Carolina. The acquisition expands the breadth and depth of rail products MAC designs and manufactures, including overhead contact systems and catenary hardware for electrified transit systems, including streetcars, light rail and trolleys.
Chicago commuter railroad Metra has awarded ClearBlade a $3.9 million contract to provide grade crossing and equipment monitoring technology at hundreds of locations across the railroad's 500-mile network. The company will provide a real-time crossing notification and warning solution for quick response to anomalies and events. ClearBlade's Edge software will monitor all wayside assets, including crossings, positive train control wayside systems, snow melter systems, track circuits, switch machines and power systems.
