Wabtec Corp. today released its 2022 sustainability report highlighting the company’s progress on its environmental, governance and social goals. The company set a new near-term absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goal to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline. Wabtec also committed to disclose its Scope 3 GHG emissions data “across its full value chain” in 2023 and set near-term targets next year for those emissions, company officials said in a press release. Meanwhile, Wabtec marked the delivery of the 500th Evolution Series locomotive to Indian Railways at Wabtec's plant in Marhowra, Bihar, India. The company has a $2.5 billion agreement with Indian Railways signed in 2015 to develop and supply 1,000 fuel-efficient, emission-compliant, diesel-electric locomotives. So far, the company has delivered 438 4,500-horsepower locomotives and 62 6,000-horsepower locomotives.

Siemens Mobility announced it will provide track, signal and right-of-way maintenance services for Metrolinx in Toronto. The company’s digital tools and software will help deliver rail data to provide Metrolinx with 24-hour service. Siemens currently provides services and products to the transit agency, including signal and communications back-office support and fault control services at Metrolinx’s Network Operations Center in Oakville, Ontario.

TraConcepts LLC was launched last week. Owner Maggie Vuono has nearly 20 years of experience in railroad construction as well as industry sales, marketing and operations. The company’s services are designed to meet the needs of all kinds of clients, from small startups to large firms, company officials said in a press release. Services include business development and marketing, technical proposal writing, CRM assistance, contract management and sales team development. The company is awaiting women’s business enterprise (WBE) and disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) certification.
