Wabtec Corp.'s Green Friction braking solution will be used in a commercial fleet operation on the RER A rail line in the Paris metropolitan area, in association with Ile-de-France Mobilites (IDFM) and RATP. The brake friction material is expected to improve air quality in the transit authority’s tunnels and underground network by reducing particle emissions from braking, according to a Wabtec press release.
Rail Modal Group (RMG) has appointed Todd Whitmore chief commercial officer, and Zach Christinson chief operating officer. Whitmore joins RMG after 27 years at BNSF Railway Co. Christinson has more than 20 years of industry experience, most recently serving as partner at P5, specializing in operations, safety, technology and profit and loss management. RMG provides intermodal rail solutions through its footprint of inland ports.
