Rail supplier news from Wabtec and Railinc (Nov. 17)

Wabtec Corp. announced a definitive agreement to acquire Super Metal, a supplier of automated vehicles and equipment solutions that support rail operations. Financial terms were not disclosed. Super Metal is a Brazilian company in rail industry's maintenance-of-way segment. The acquisition complements Wabtec’s 2021 acquisition of Nordco and accelerates expansion into international markets, Wabtec officials said in a press release. 

Railinc's TransmetriQ unit has added another capability to its rail management system with eBills of Lading (eBOL). TransmetriQ's eBOL program automatically converts key shipping data into language and formats necessary to initiate rail shipments. TransmetriQ has implemented eBOL with seven Class Is and will add this capability for any current rail management system user — shipping via any North American railroad — on request, according to a Railinc press release.
