•    Alstom Transport has obtained a $555 million contract from Swedish Public Transport Authority AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) for 46 new Coradia Nordic regional trains. The order for the trains is part of a frame agreement signed between Alstom and SL in 2002, and will bring the total number of Coradia Nordic trains ordered by SL to 129. The order will allow SL to replace a part of its aging fleet and extend its network. Alstom will begin delviering the 46 trains in 2016.

•    Skanska has been awarded a $66 million contract from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to design and construct a test track, commissioning facility, parking garage and other facilities near Greenbelt Maintenance Yard in Prince George’s County, Md. Skanska Civil USA will include the contract in its order bookings in the second quarter. The new facility will enable WMATA to test and commission new and rehabilitated rail vehicles.

•    CIT Rail has appointed John Deveikis vice president, railcar leasing. Based in Atlanta, Deveikis will be responsible for account development and management across the southeastern United States. Prior to joining CIT, he spent more than 16 years at GE Railcar in various sales, marketing and car management positions. He also was vice president of sales at IntelliTrans L.L.C, and owned consulting firm North American Transport Solutions.
