Bombardier Transportation obtained a $226 million contract to supply 35 TALENT 2 electric multiple units and a strategic spare part package to Abellio Rail NRW GmbH in Germany. The trains will operate on the Saale-Thuringia-South Harz network. Bombardier will supply 20 three-car and 14 five-car TALENT 2 trains, according to a company press release. The units will be equipped with Bombardier's MITRAC 1000 propulsion and control system.
Ansaldo STS, which was contracted by the Genoa local authority in Italy as a concession holder to design and build the region's metro, will be a key player in the inaugural celebrations for the extension of the new line, according to a company press release. The line extends to Brignole station, crossing the Bisagno waterway and continuing along a track that will be considered for a future extension. Ansaldo was responsible for the project's civilian work (tunnels, shafts, surface work and finishing), and technological work (signaling, telecommunications, energy supply, elevators, escalators, fire safety systems, ventilation and air conditioning).
