Rail supplier updates from Hub Group, Siemens, Alstom and Hanson (Aug. 11)

Mark Yaeger resigned from his post as president and chief operating officer of Hub Group, where he's worked for 23 years. He'll remain a member of the company's board, Hub officials said in a press release. While the company searches for a replacement, David Yaeger, Hub's chairman and chief executive officer, will assume Mark Yaeger's duties.

As part of a consortium with Cofely-Fabricom, Siemens will equip more than 1,300 track miles of Belgium's rail network with the European Train Control System (ETCS), Level 2. The country's rail operator Infrabel placed the order, which is valued at about $564 million. ETCS is an "essential component" for merging Europe's rail traffic and is designed to replaced 20 national automatic train protection systems throughout the continent, Siemens officials said in a press release.

Alstom is supplying eight additional Regiolis trains to the Midi-Pyrenees region in France for $51 million, following an initial order for 25 such units in 2009. The Regiolis trains, which are also known as Coradia Polyvalent units, are made up of four cars. The trains have been fitted with passenger counting systems, dedicated storage space for bicycles and luggage, and front-panel displays showing destinations.

Greg Jennings recently marked 25 years of service at Hanson Professional Services’ office in Peoria, Ill. He performs computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) for structural projects, primarily in the rail industry. He's provided services for projects such as Alaska Railroad Corp.'s Northern Rail Extension, in addition to multiple bridges for BNSF Railway Co. and CN.
