Kelso Technologies Inc. has received regulatory approval from the Association of American Railroads (AAR) for the company's new heavy-duty, external pressure relief valve (EPRV) known as the JS75XH/27. The valve, which was tested in August, now is qualified to be used commercially in heavy duty hazardous materials applications that include the transport of crude oil and ethanol, according to a company press release. Kelso received its Class D certification for the EPRV and manway production facilities in Bonham, Texas, from the AAR. The Class D registration covers the manufacture, quality control assurance, testing and certification, and recondition, repair and retest of qualified tank-car equipment.

Professional Transportation Inc. (PTI) recently announced plans to expand its headquarters in Evansville, Ind., as a result of the recent acquisition of Coach America's Crew Transport division. Professional Transportation provides rail crew logistical services in all territories east of the Mississippi River. With the acquisition, the company will expand operations by adding rail crew services in the U.S. Northwest region, serving BNSF Railway Co., Canadian Pacific, Utah Railway and the Portland and Western Railroad, according to a PTI press release. The headquarters expansion is expected to create up to 100 jobs over the next three years.

Tammy Gilbert and Charles Michael Williams recently joined Trinity Industries Inc. as vice president of information technology and vice president of human resources, respectively. Prior to joining the company, Gilbert was America's VP of transition, transformation and project/program management for Hewlett-Packard. She also has held executive positions at EDS, Sabre, American Airlines and Harris Methodist Hospital. Williams most recently served as VP and chief people officer at Luminant. She previously held human resource leadership positions at Safety-Kleen Systems Inc., Service Master Inc. and Waste Management Inc.

Keith Batley has joined National Railway Equipment Co. (NREC) as assistant vice president of sales and marketing. He will lead all North American sales of NREC's new and remanufactured locomotives and components, as well as field, engineering and financial services. Batley, who has more than 20 years of rail industry experience, will report to NREC President and Chief Executive Officer Steven Beal.

Robert Heininger has joined The Burns Group as resident engineer for the recently awarded Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) positive train control contract. Heininger has 32 years of diverse rail signal and project construction experience. He spent most of his career with SEPTA's regional rail, suburban light rail and city transit divisions. For the past 12 years, Heininger was director of SEPTA's communications and signals maintenance division. During his tenure, he was responsible for all signal maintenance and Federal Railroad Administration testing for SEPTA's regional rail lines.
