Rail supplier updates from Skanska, Cubic and Michael Baker (May 29)

• Skanska has obtained a $94 million contract from Network Rail Infrastructure for the construction of the Bermondsey rail underpass and associated structure strengthening works. The contract will be included in order bookings for the second quarter, according to a company press release. The project will form part of the Thameslink development program.

• Cubic Transportation Systems announced its customer Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund GmbH (RMV) has sold more than 1 million transit tickets with Cubic’s smartphone appliication and mobile ticketing solution, according to a company press release. RMV provides transit services in Frankfurt, Germany, including to 153 transit operators that accept tickets generated by Cubic’s app.

• Michael Baker Jr. Inc. has opened an office in Canton, Ohio, to support its Utica/Marcellus shale initiative and growing client base in eastern Ohio.  “The new Canton office further demonstrates our commitment to the region and support of companies engaged in this game-changing industry,” said Christine Mayernik, vice president and regional operational manager of Baker’s shale services, in a prepared statement.
