Wabtec Corp. plans to acquire Faiveley Transport S.A. for $1.8 billion. The purchase would create one of the world's largest public rail equipment companies with about $4.5 billion in revenue, according to a Wabtec press release. Following the acquisition, Faiveley Transport's headquarters in Gennevilliers, France, will become Wabtec's global transit headquarters, under the Faiveley brand name.

Fluor Corp.'s maintenance facility for the Regional Transportation District (RTD) of Denver's commuter-rail network has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. The 230,000-square-foot facility is part of Fluor's Eagle P3 Project to design, build, finance, operate and maintain three commuter-rail lines slated to open in 2016. In July 2010, RTD awarded the project to the Fluor-led joint venture of Denver Transit Partners.

Bombardier Transportation obtained a 30-year, $308 million contract to provide maintenance on its FLEXITY Freedom light-rail vehicles to be built for Toronto's new Eglinton Crosstown Line. The contract was awarded to the Crosslinx Transit Solutions Maintenance General Partnership, which subcontracted Bombardier for the maintenance work.

Michael Kershaw announced he will retire from his post as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Tutor Perini Corp. He joined the company in September 2011, and has been instrumental in integrating and improving its accounting and financial reporting systems, Tutor Perini officials said in a press release. Gary Smalley is expected to succeed Kershaw by Sept. 1. Since March 2008, Smalley has served as senior VP and controller of Fluor Corp. He's also served as group CFO for one of Fluor's business segments since October 2014.

Maintenance Design Group promoted Jon Holler to manager of the Southeast region manager and Darren Pynn to manager of the Western region. Holler has more than 20 years of experience planning and designing operations and maintenance facilities, and Pynn has more than 30 years experience in architecture, planning and programming. The firm also promoted Sheena Zimmerman and Tom Rieger to senior facility designers. They've been with MDG for six years, and have worked on several transportation and municipal projects throughout the United States.
