ALK Technologies Inc. recently released an updated version of PC*MILER|Rail 10, mapping software designed to display more than 231,700 track miles and 46,500 rail facilities on more than 670 railroads.
Available for the past 20 years, the software is used by shippers, railroads, rail-car lessors and mileage auditors, logistics companies and intermodal carriers to determine and negotiate rates, manage equipment, audit rail-car mileage and select a carrier.
"Enhancements have been implemented into the software's database reflecting the most recent rail-industry changes," said ALK Technologies Product manager Kara Jo Witkowski in a prepared statement.
To update PC*MILER|Rail 10, the software provider added 38 railroads, 2,250 rail facilities and more than 500 interchanges, and modified tables reflecting current relationships and agreements between Class Is and short lines.
ALK Technologies monitors government filings to keep track of rail-industry mergers and acquisitions.
