Alstom will supply 212 metropolis cars for the automatic light-metro system connecting downtown Montreal to the south and north shore, West Island and Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, according to an Alstom press release. In a separate announcement, Alstom officials said the company received a 100 million euro order from Ile-de-France Mobilities and the Societe du Grand Paris for 23 trains consisting of three cars each for the Grand Paris Express metro. The order is in addition to 25 trains that have been ordered and are being developed. Additionally, Alstom has been awarded a 90 million euro contract from Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd. of New Delhi to equip select Mumbai Metro lines with communications based train control technology. The company also will supply 13 additional Coradia Polyvalent trains to the French region of Occitanie and Pyrenees-Mediterranee for 80 million euro, according to an Alstom press release.
SKF and Advanced Truck Systems (ATS) have partnered to equip ATS’ new two-piece truck system with high capacity wheel bearings and a condition monitoring system to reduce on-track failures and enable predictive maintenance, SKF officials said in a press release.
Tealinc Ltd. has hired Shannon Rodgers as customer support and development specialist to better represent east coast customers. Rodgers has 20 years of rail industry experience, most recently as rail fleet specialist for Watco Cos.
Stantec named Jared Weismantel senior industrial architect to support the design and engineering firm’s transit building practice. Weismantel has an "in-depth perspective" of facility planning, programming, facility functional design and preparation of equipment requirements and specifications, according to a Stantec press release. He has worked on more than 100 maintenance facility projects across North America for transit, civic and education clients.
Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation (SPRING) launched its recruitment and retention services to connect potential employees with the rail industry. SPRING has partnered with 32 educational institutions and FASTPORT, a veteran employment software company, to grow its community, according to a company press release. SPRING also assists companies with employee retention strategies. Michele Malski, a 2014 Progressive Railroading Rising Star and former manager of the Short Line Safety Institute’s safety and hazmat programs, is SPRING's founder and president.
