Alstom this month marked the commissioning of a new 8.7-mile branch on the Reseau express metropolitan (REM) automated light-rail network in Montreal. The new branch connects the city of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the Island of Montreal to downtown. Alstom delivered the complete REM light-rail system, including 212 cars, signaling systems and a digital predictive maintenance platform for REM, Alstom officials said in a press release. Additionally, Alstom supports operations and maintenance of REM through a joint venture with AtkinsRealis. With the new branch, REM now spans about 40 miles and has 23 stations. At full build out, REM will have 26 stations across about 42 miles, connecting downtown Montreal to the Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.

Vossloh has commissioned a new turnout plant in Sannahed, Sweden, with production capability of 900 turnouts per year. The facility features Vossloh's first automated assembly line with robotic installation of ties, Vossloh officials said in a press release. A dedicated hall in the plant is reserved for special-purpose production and worker training and education. The Sannahed facility replaces the production site in Orebro, where turnouts for the Swedish rail network and neighboring countries had been manufactured since 1914.

GHD has acquired Bowman Engineering & Consulting Inc. (BEC), a Texas-based civil and transportation engineering firm. BEC's 50-person team operates out of offices in Dallas, Houston and Austin. The firm has nearly two decades of experience designing, planning and delivering transportation programs with major public agencies including Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Trinity Metro. BEC will rebrand as "Bowman Engineering & Consulting, a GHD company" while the two organizations integrate operations, GHD officials said in a press release.

Stadler has delivered 23 new FLIRT trainsets for Polish passenger-rail operator Koleje Mazo-wieckie since the beginning of May. The manufacturing contract covers 75 vehicles, 53 of which are scheduled for delivery by the end of the year. The contract also includes maintenance, staff training and repair packages. Stadler is manufacturing the trainsets at its Polska plant in Siedlce, Poland. Each five-car trainset can carry up to 582 passengers and can reach speeds of up to 99 mph, Stadler officials said in a press release.

Cedar AI and Nexxiot have partnered to integrate Nexxiot's sensor gateway data into Cedar's AI-native rail operating system, ARMS. Live asset location, shock detection and component status data now directly flow into ARMS. The data is automatically reconciled against waybills, movement events and operational workflows, allowing for greater transparency, efficiency and precision, Cedar officials said in a press release.
