Supplier news from Wabtec, APM, Alstom and Russell-Kroese Partners (March 28)

Wabtec Corp. has been selected to manufacture 50 new Evolution series locomotives for Brazil-based global mining company Vale. The new locomotives will renew the fleets in Vale’s Vitoria a Minas Railroad and Carajas Railroad, Wabtec officials said in a press release. Wabtec will manufacture the locomotives at its Contagen, Brazil, plant with deliveries of 36 EVOBBW locomotives and 14 ES58ACi beginning in 2026. Both types of locomotives operate on a blend of biodiesel. “We are proud to support Vale and our customers with advanced technologies that reduce CO2 emissions and promote operational efficiency,” said Danilo Miyasato, Wabtec LATAM president and regional leader.
APM Terminals has reached a 33-year lease extension to continue operating the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's terminal in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The agreement incorporates performance, infrastructure and sustainability requirements into the contract, ensuring the terminal is able to handle growing cargo volumes in the future. APM will invest over $500 million in the coming years to enhance its capacity and replace and maintain wharf and berth structures. “With APM Terminals’ commitment through 2062, we are solidifying the Port of New York and New Jersey as a stable, reliable choice for shippers,” said Bethann Rooney, port director, in a press release from the port authority.
Alstom recently reached a milestone of 500 electric locomotives delivered to Indian Railways. The fully India-made Prima T8 WAG12B e-locomotives were completed in Alstom’s Madhepura, Bihar, facility as part of a contract worth 3.5 billion euros, Alstom officials said. The completed 500 locomotives are part of an 800 locomotive order from Indian Railways. The WAG12B locomotives offer energy consumption savings to bring down operational costs and reduce congestion, according to Alstom.
Russell-Kroese Partners (RKP) consulting firm was launched this week by Rob Russell and Shawntell Kroese for the rail, logistics and real estate development sectors. Russell brings more than 23 years of executive logistics experience from OmniTRAX, Progressive Rail and Union Pacific Railroad. Kroese has more than 27 years of experience in both rail and truck companies. She has managed all commodity groups and brings experience training rail sales and marketing teams, according to an RKP press release. RKP will assist companies with contracts, logistics and real estate development sectors.
