Mexico City Metro recently awarded several contracts totaling $32 million to information technology provider Telvent GIT S.A. to upgrade electrical infrastructure control systems and implement technology for a contact-free ticketing system.
The new infrastructure will help control electricity distribution to three lines, as well as the lighting, power and traction circuits. In addition, Telvent will supply an integrated control, protection and metering system designed to monitor the electrical infrastructure.
Telvent also will provide one million contact-free smart cards, which Metro will use to integrate its fare-collection system with other area public transportation operators.
