Thermaldyne to build facility in USA Rail Terminal park

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced last week that Thermaldyne has invested $19 million to establish an indirect thermal desorption facility in the USA Rail Terminal Industrial Park near Port Allen.

The facility will feature the latest technology for waste remediation and encompass 25 acres at the industrial park, company officials said in a press release. Construction is expected to begin in third-quarter 2015, with an expected completion in second-quarter 2016.

"Louisiana's proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and the fact that it is a primary oil producing state made it an ideal location in terms of transportation and opportunity for our flagship facility," said Thermaldyne Chief Executive Officer Randall Tolbert. "Our goal is to utilize the newest and most innovative, green technology to safely remediate hazardous waste such as refinery sludge so that area businesses can focus on growth rather than waste disposal."

The park's $14.3 million first phase was announced in February. Developed by USA Rail Terminals LLC, the park features opportunities for unit train and manifest freight deliveries, material transloading, oil transfers and storage, pipe distribution, service company development, large rail storage capabilities and chemical deliveries.
