U.S. Sugar using RMI's RailConnect system to track sugar cane movements
advertisement
RMI recently implemented its RailConnect® Transportation Management System (TMS) with United States Sugar Corp. and the company’s short-line railroad unit South Central Florida Express.
As part of its “Full Throttle Innovation” program aimed at providing a real-time, comprehensive view of the entire U.S. Sugar cane network, U.S. Sugar began using RMI’s mCrew interface. Employees report loadings to RMI via laptop computers using a cellular data transmission; train crews use mCrew tablet computers to view the latest data and report car movements.
In use at U.S. Sugar’s Clewiston and Bryan mills, and onboard 18 locomotives, TMS enables the company to track the movement of sugar cane from the field to the processing plant, and manage the rail-car fleet used to transport the cane.
