• Axion International has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with Coll Materials that will provide Axion expanded manufacturing capacity at Coll’s plant in Waco, Texas. The facility will “increase our capacity in a strategic location so that we can efficiently service our customers and meet the growing demand for our products,” Axion President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Silverman said in a prepared statement. The pact also will provide Axion with “necessary short-term capacity” and “room to grow,” he said.

• FAAC Inc., part of Arotech Corp.’s Training and Simulation Division, has obtained a $2.1 million contract for the Toronto Transit Commission’s light -rail vehicle simulator. The vehicle is a new rail car being produced by Bombardier Transportation. Under the subcontract with Bombardier, FAAC will design, develop and deliver the simulator to support the commission’s training programs, FAAC officials said in a prepared statement.

• Spectrum Infrared has obtained a contract with the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co. to install 70-plus Spectrum RRSH Track Switch Heaters at the Blue Island and Riverdale yards. The railroad chose the RRSH-200 series heaters with optional flex ducting to “permit ease of installation of the heater cabinet, which has the rail industry’s lowest profile and installation envelope for electric forced-air blowers,” Spectrum officials said in a prepared statement.

• H.J. Skelton has completed a lubrication system installation in Edmonton, Alberta, for Edmonton Transit Systems. The system was installed in -40 degree F weather, the firm’s officials said in a prepared statement. The system was installed to decrease rail wheel noise and help eliminate unnecessary rail wear, they said.

• Yesterday, Kelso Technologies Inc. began trading in the United States on the highest tier of the OTC market: OTCQX®. The company’s common shares are trading under the symbol KEOSF. Dorsey & Whitney L.L.P. in Toronto will serve as the company’s principal American liaison, according to a Kelso press release.

• Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Gary Gonzales a senior principal engineer in the Denver office. He has more than 20 years of experience working on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Regional Transportation District (RTD) of Denver projects. His experience includes traffic and intelligent transportation system planning, design and construction/program management for highway and transit projects. For the past four years, Gonzales served as CDOT’s program engineer and liaison to the RTD FasTracks program.
