• Bombardier Transportation has obtained a $120 million contract to supply 76 additional Bombardier MOVIA metro cars to the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd. The order is a follow-up to the orders for 114 vehicles announced in 2010. Delivery is expected to begin in third-quarter 2012 and conclude in early 2013, according to Bombardier Transportation.

• Kinetic Traction Systems Inc. (KTSi) and Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd. (Williams F1) have signed a long-term agreement to jointly advance and promote innovative, clean flywheel-based energy storage and recycling systems for mass transit rail and grid applications, according to a joint press release. Under the agreement, Williams F1 will market KTSi’s GTR flywheel systems in the rail and electrical grid sectors under its own brand in Europe, the Middle East and India. The two companies will work to globally promote composite flywheel technology.

• Michael Brainard has joined HDR as director of government compliance. He will oversee all aspects of regulatory compliance with HDR’s U.S. government clients, including applicable Cost Accounting Standards and Federal Acquisition Regulation. He also will oversee the firm’s federal administrative support team. Prior to joining HDR, Brainard was president of the Brainard Group L.L.C., which he founded in 2007. He has more than 30 years of experience in government contracting.

• Hardesty & Hanover L.L.P. has named Jamey Barbas global director of strategic projects. An engineer, she has more than 28 years of experience in bridge design and construction, with an emphasis on complex and long-span bridges. She led the bridge design team for the Autoroute 30 public-private partnership project in Montreal, one of the largest bridge projects of its kind in North America, according to Hardesty & Hanover.
