Updates from Invensys, G4S Technology, Lilee Systems, HDR, Harsco and Parsons Brinckerhoff

• Invensys Rail has obtained a contract from Metrorex, the operator of Bucharest Metro in Romania, to install signaling technology on two new stations for the Line Four extension. Invensys, which entered the Romanian rail market in 1999, previously installed equipment on the system’s existing four stations.

• G4S Technology L.L.C. has obtained a contract from the Southern California Regional Rail Authority to install and integrate an updated communications network, electronic equipment and microwave towers to support train control, station services and business applications. The $13.6 million project began in February and is slated for completion within 18 months.

• Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta has joined Lilee Systems’ board. Mineta served as secretary from 2001 to 2006. He currently is global vice chairman at Hill & Knowlton. In addition to Mineta’s appointment, Lilee Systems announced it unveiled TransAir PTC products, an end-to-end, industry compliant positive train control communication system designed to help railroads achieve their PTC/safety goals.

• Michael Meroney has been promoted to business group manager of HDR’s Texas Gulf Coast Transportation group. Meroney joined the Texas-based engineering firm in 2008. He has served as project manager on multiple freeway, street, highway and interchange projects. He also has served as deputy project manager of HDR’s Houston Metro/North Corridor transit design-build project.

• Harsco Corp. has appointed Janet Hogan vice president and chief human resources officer. She has “an extensive executive-level background” in global human resources management, having worked for nearly 20 years at Monsanto Co., Harsco officials said in a press release. In her most recent leadership position, Hogan was responsible for the all aspects of human resources and talent development throughout Monsanto’s global research and development group.

• Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Kenneth Mitchell program manager of information security. He will oversee projects and programs in policy compliance, security architecture, standards and controls. He has “extensive experience” in information technology (IT) and as an IT security leader, firm officials said in a prepared statement. Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, Mitchell served as security and compliance manager for Kraft’s outsourced security program at EDS.
