• Siemens Mobility has obtained a $264 million order from Czech railway company Ceske Drahy (CD) for 16 seven-car Railjet trains. The order involves the takeover of a contract option that originally was intended for the Austrian Federal Railways, according to a prepared statement. Czech Railways plans to use the trains to modernize its fleet. The Railjets will be deployed on a mainline between Prague and Brno, and in cross-border traffic to Austria, Germany, Hungary and Slovakia.

• Siemens AG has named Daryl Dulaney chief executive officer of the company’s newly formed Infrastructure and Cities (IC) Sector in North America and Central America. Dulaney also will continue to serve as president and CEO of Siemens Industry Inc., the legal entity comprising the IC and Industry sectors in the United States. The IC sector will be organized into five divisions: Building Technologies, Low and Medium Voltage, Mobility and Logistics, Rail Systems and Smart Grids.

• Koppers Inc. received a three-year contract from CSX Transportation worth $12 million to $13 million for bonded rail joint assemblies. Koppers will produce the bonded rail joint assemblies at its Huntington, W.V., plant, which was acquired from Portec Rail Products Inc. in December 2010. Koppers also provides CSXT with other types of rail joint and bar products.

• SNC-Lavalin has acquired Interfleet Technology, an international rail technology consulting firm. Interfleet provides consulting services involving rolling stock, railway systems and railway management. “Interfleet’s specialized expertise, complementary geographic presence and reputation for innovation are a strong addition to SNC-Lavalin’s service offering, particularly given the great growth potential in the rail sector worldwide,” said Jim Burke, SNC-Lavalin executive vice president, in a prepared statement.

• HNTB Corp. has appointed Nasri Munfah senior vice president and chairman of tunnel services and Sanja Zlatanic, vice president and chief tunneling engineer. Both are recognized in the industry as experts in the tunneling field, HNTB officials said in a prepared statement. Munfah serves as an adjunct professor of engineering at Columbia University and has more than 30 years of experience in all phases of international transportation. Zlatanic has more than 20 years of experience, including management of complex transportation, transit and underground projects.
