• Stacy and Witbeck Inc. (SWI) recently acquired Rail Systems Solutions Inc. (RSS) and merged its operations with Modern Railway Systems (MRS), a new operating subsidiary, SWI officials said in a prepared statement. In addition, SWI named Gerry McKenna president of MRS. “We established Modern Railway Systems to expand and diversify our offerings and provide a broad range of solutions to our customers,” said SWI President and Chief Executive Officer John Bollier. “The acquisition and merger of the RSS operation launches MRS and establishes a firm presence in the market with a proven and effective team.”

• A joint venture between AECOM Technology Corp., its Tishman Construction arm and STV have obtained a $19 million contract from the Moynihan Station Development Corp. in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The contract calls for the joint venture to provide construction management services and rail expertise for the station’s first phase of construction. The contract scope includes design reviews, construction staging, coordination between three operating railroads, construction supervision of platform ventilation work, pedestrian concourse improvements and facility planning. AECOM’s aggregate fee, including Tishman Construction operation, is $11 million, AECOM officials said in a prepared statement.

• Siemens Infrastructure & Cities will be responsible for electrifying the new double-track metro line on behalf of train consortium Consorcio Tren Eléctrico in Lima, Peru. The line will run from the city’s northern suburbs to the downtown area, and will include 10 new stations, according to a Siemens press release. The work will involve providing a feeder station with two 20 MVA transformers, two 20 kV cable distribution system rings, as well as 10 station supplies and four 1500V rectifier substations. In addition to the catenary line along the route, the order also will cover installation of an overhead contact line system for a planned depot.

• Ansaldo STS has obtained a $19.8 million contract from the French Railway Infrastructure to install a complete signaling system on a new section of the East European High-Speed Line. The new 66-mile section between Baudrecourt and Vendenheim in France is the second phase of the line, which will connect Luxembourg and Germany. Ansaldo will provide interlocking SEI associated with the TVM430 signaling system and related equipment, according to an Ansaldo STS press release.

• OPW Fluid Transfer Group has named Ross Pliska vice president of the Transportation Business Unit, effective Jan. 1. He joined Dover in 2003 as a manufacturing/applications engineer for Alberta Oil Tool, was named technical services manager in 2005, was promoted to vice president of sales and engineering in 2007, and became vice president of international sales for Norris Production Solutions in March 2010.
