On Feb. 24, Wabtec Corp. announced subsidiaries Wabtec Railway Electronics and Cobra Europe SA received ISO 9001:2000 registration.

The 2000 version of ISO 9001 applies to companies that improve design, manufacturing and service quality processes to enhance customer satisfaction.

The registration applies to Wabtec Railway Electronics' Germantown, Md., plant, which produces electronic train-control equipment.

"A proactive internal audit group continued to take the pulse of our quality management system throughout last year to see if we, in fact, are doing what we say we’re doing," said Wabtec Railway Electronics President Robert Haag in a prepared statement. "Achieving our registration does not mean the process is complete, so we will stay focused on continuous improvement and maintaining the new standard."

Based in France's Alsace region, Cobra Europe supplies organic-material brake shoes and disc pads to European and North African railroads.

"This is the positive consequence of an intense process of improving our quality management system and assuring that it continually meets our customers' evolving needs," said Vice President and Managing Director Jerry Rowe.
