CN and Canadian Pacific have been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by the global environmental nonprofit CDP.

CN secured a place on CDP's A List for tackling climate change. The Class I was recognized for its actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low-carbon economy, based on data the railroad reported through CDP's 2020 climate change questionnaire, CN officials said in a press release.

This year marks the 11th straight year that CDP has recognized CN.

"Our goal is to conduct our operations with minimal environmental impact while providing cleaner, more sustainable transportation services to our customers," said CN President and Chief Executive Officer JJ Ruest.

Meanwhile, CP received a leadership level score of A- for the Class I's 2020 climate change disclosure. Highlight's of CP's 2020 submission to the CDP included the company's first public statement on climate change, which supported the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.

"A leadership level score of A- from CDP is a reflection of our efforts to position CP for a sustainably driven future by implementing climate action within our own operations, while engaging with our value chain to enable positive change beyond our organization," said CP President and CEO Keith Creel in a press release.
