California voucher plan targets cost of green off-road equipment

The California Air Resources Board on Friday will launch its Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) at the Port of San Diego to accelerate deployment of zero-emission off-road freight equipment.
The new $44 million initiative targets equipment used at ports, distribution centers, airports and freight rail yards. The program's goal is to help lower the cost of purchasing such equipment, resource board officials said in a press release.
CORE seeks to address climate concerns and cut emissions from an industry still reliant on heavy fossil fuel powered equipment. Businesses interested in buying or leasing clean, heavy-duty off-road equipment through CORE can receive point-of-sale vouchers of up to $500,00 per vehicle or piece of equipment.
A project of the California Air Resources Board, CORE is administered by CALSTART and funded through proceeds from California Climate Investments.
