The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) on Jan. 27 will host a virtual summit for rail industry peers to share solutions on how to keep trains running during a power failure.
The Energy Resiliency Summit is the final event of a three-part series designed to motivate the marketplace to share innovative ideas, technologies and concepts that could help LA Metro become more energy resilient, LA Metro officials said in a press release. Energy resiliency is the ability to withstand or recover quickly from a power disruption.
LA Metro Chief Executive Officer Phillip Washington will open the summit, which will feature presentations on proposed energy resiliency solutions selected through the agency’s request for white papers from industry leaders.
A keynote speaker and a panel featuring sustainability experts from the Los Angeles region will discuss the roadmap to energy resiliency. The panel will be moderated by Heather Repenning, LA Metro’s executive officer of sustainability policy, and Thomas Small, chair of LA Metro’s Sustainability Council.
Attendees expected to attend represent the construction, engineering, technology, energy, sustainability, transit and utilities sectors, as well as academia and local government.
GDS Associates, Indian Energy LLC and Gannett Fleming will also present their ideas on clean energy technologies and systems.
